Sometimes all it takes to truly be great is that it’s not so bad as the last time that you tried. Sometimes all it takes to truly seem great is that it’s available, it’s harnessed and it’s tried. There’s an old plank for sitting on, a roof above for rainfall, if you’re praying for some heat I guess you’d better pray again. You could sit closer to me but then we’d have to explain how mediocrity showed up at the party again. Sometimes suffering is just a stupid way of saying, ‘I give up, it’s comfortable enough.’ Put your ear down all the way to floor and tell me what you hear. I heard you mumbling in your sleep.

Burn It Down 05:03
Feathers, rags and feathers. Dare we tie our shirts together what if they tear? My words were so unkind It was the truth, I’d rather lose a tooth than lie. Take a break from your working days Give your hands a chance to play around with some old and dirty things The sun is sneaking through the threadbare scarf you have tied across my eyes. Feathers, rags and feathers. Dare we tie our shirts together what if they tear? Clouded figure, southern bound. It’s a shame our memories can’t burn it down. Clouded figure southern bound It’s a shame our memories can’t burn it down

I can’t always be the one Turning light bulbs into the sun Hands get tired face gets red Close your eyes this dog is wed There’s no suitor waiting out for you He’s at home dear. He’s trying on my shoes. Might seem funny that this bitch is spent But I’ve had cheaper nightmares about paying the rent. I can’t always be the one turning light bulbs into the sun

Tie Me Up 03:22
Like a saw that can’t cut, like a bull with no fight. I’ll just stay where I lay if I can’t see you tonight. I won’t shine up my boots I won’t button up my shirt. There’s no meat and no gravy and not a single dessert. Like a wheel held on a pin hold me up and watch me spin. We’ll just gather up our strength cause nobody needs to win.

Fitting Room 06:03
She told him to try on a bottle of whiskey. She thought that it might be the way To battle a case of acute hypertension And cut off the end of the day. She told him to try on his new striped shirt. She thought that it might be the way To get back a part of his lost motivation And keep him from drifting away. But it all comes down to a stupid quote on a wrinkled page in my overcoat. To a jealous girl with a diamond ring and an easy chair she’s just borrowing. The truck’s on the lawn and the house looks so small. He can barely see how to get in. He’ll just dive with his hand on his eyes and his heart And pray that the door’s not too thin. But it all comes down to a stupid quote on a wrinkled page in my overcoat. To a jealous girl with a diamond ring and an easy chair she’s just borrowing.

Unmade Bed 01:40
The bed is unmade, the dishes still to do I was lying in the yard just waiting for you. The smoke tastes like leather, your skin smells like rain. I was waiting for those lips to help me push back the pain. You’re working all the time, you’re stronger than you look. I’m a bent and battered stray, I’m a sentimental crook. I have sympathy for the ones who are left in a cloud of indecision In the dust of regret. I’ll do the dishes and I’ll make the bed. We’ll keep each other warm and we’ll keep each other fed. I have sympathy for the ones who are left in a cloud of indecision In the dust of regret.

Undercover 03:47
Don’t look I’m under cover You can never leave this town. I’m just a stranger not your lover You can never leave this town. My accent is acquired You can never leave this town. I’m just one voice in a choir You can never leave this town. That make-up makes you look Like you’re the star of this funeral.
8.
The Mistake 02:37
The mistake we make is always being free Just to starve and drown in this time of plenty. Look a little further down maybe we don’t need Quite so much attention as we all make believe. The mistake we make is making it alone Even egomaniacs like us need a home. The mistake we make is making it alone. The mistake we make is making it alone.

about

Recorded in conjunction with their self-titled debut at April Base Studios, Hello Death's latest album Remnants feels like a lot more than just outtakes. On the contrary, Remnants feels like Hello Death's opposite; it's conceptual counterpart. Relying almost solely on the band's powerful vocal harmonies, the album only breathes when it must; leaning hard against a frail musical accompaniment. On the band's sophomore album, the aptly named Hello Death seem to happily greet the Grimmest of Reapers with every note.
